The first day you will rappel, climb, wiggle, and wade through all types of formations in a slot canyon and then spend the afternoon learning to rock climb. Day two begins by paddling across the river (right out of your campsite!) to a canyoneering loop; then float 7 miles down river to spend the afternoon rock climbing. Day three, you will spend the morning rock climbing and then cool off in the afternoon while exploring another canyon. Spend your final day at a third rock climbing site before heading back to town for a well-deserved shower!
Get soaked shooting the rapids of Westwater Canyon and Fisher Towers on this exciting and scenic trip. Bring along inflatable rafts to improve your paddling skills. Listen to sounds of the river and the desert wildlife echo off the canyon walls as you sleep along the shore.

We reserve the right to alter the itinerary prior to and throughout the trip as we constantly improve the Adventure Treks experience. Itineraries may change due to: Severe weather, student ability, motivation and conditioning, high or low rivers, high or low snow pack, unpredictable natural disasters and acts of God, vehicle breakdowns, road closures, volcanic activity, forest fires, illness, ever changing permit regulations, any potential threat to safety; even a brilliant idea from an instructor or student. In the event of a schedule change, comparable activities will be substituted when possible and you will be notified by e-mail of significant changes.
Is this the best trip for me?
The Utah Canyons Adventure is a perfect trip for students who are currently in 8th-9th grade. No previous experience is necessary to join any of our trips! With 24 students in the group, you will be challenged appropriately because we break up into small groups for each activity based on your interest and ability.
All students on Utah Canyons Adventures should be comfortable riding a bike. Your backcountry biking trip is going to be amazing, and we want to you enjoy yourself. Practice riding each week to get in shape for this trip.
Will it be really hot in Utah?
Temperatures in the mountains are usually moderate, and we'll spend plenty of time in canyons, on rivers, and backpacking in higher elevations. We want you to be prepared for cooler nights at higher elevations. A heavy fleece, a hat and gloves are recommended as part of your equipment list so you’ll be comfortable in any weather. For more information about packing, please check your equipment list at your Log In Page.
Is there any special gear I need for this trip?
Your daypack (a bookbag) is essential on this trip, because your duffel will be shuttled to you during your backpacking and biking trips. You'll pack everything you need for the day in your daypack. You'll also need a headnet for potential mosquitoes. A Camelbak or similar hydration bladder is highly recommended for the biking trip, canyoneering, and hiking.

Ive been on 3 AT trips. Utah was my second. This is the most unique scenery in the whole world. All AT instructors are awesome, and at AT not only are the lessons lifelong, but so are the friends (counselors and students alike.)

This was our fifteen year old daughter's second AT trip. She loved the scenery in Utah and the activities. The counselors were fun and encouraging and she enjoyed the community as much as the first year. Great trip.
