Our mission is to provide the safest, most substantive, and most exciting adventure programs for young people through our personal attention to every student, our caring, and our competence.
Adventure Treks offers 16-29 day wilderness based programs in California, Oregon, Utah, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, and North Carolina for students age 12-18. A typical program has 24 students and 6 instructors and activities include: backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and kayaking, canoeing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, ice climbing, canyoneering, caving, and sailing.

Instructors are expected to be excellent role models as they teach a variety of outdoor skills and foster a close community. Course size is generally twenty-four students with six instructors. Outdoor skills taught include: backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, sailing, mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, canoeing, cooking, orienteering, Leave No Trace concepts, and general environmental education. Other specialized skills will be taught in conjunction with outfitters. On each Adventure, the six- person instructor team works closely together to coordinate all aspects of the trip including: instruction in all outdoor activities, risk management, managing group dynamics, menu planning, purchasing food, laundry, transportation, coordinating with outfitters, maintaining equipment, and handling medical issues. Instructors receive support while in the field from the Director and Regional Directors.
We will be accepting applications until April 30th for the 2011 summer season. However we will accept applications for the fall season until August 15th. If you meet our qualifications, please send a resume to:

Once we receive your resume, we will mail or email you an application packet. This packet will include our current promotional materials to help you better understand what makes Adventure Treks unique. Once we receive your completed application and skills assessment, we can begin our extensive interview process. The interview process includes two to three interviews to ensure we are a good match for each other. We will also check your references and perform a background check. This hiring process is time-intensive, but we have found it to be the best way to create incredible 6-person instructor teams. Most instructor applicants are impressed with the thoroughness of our interview process.
