6 Instructors on Your Trip

"The instructors were so much fun to be with. They made everything as safe and as fun as possible. I was as close to the instructors as I was to the students."

Information for Parents of Enrolled Students:

Contacting your student during the Adventure:

Your child will be able to call you a few times during the Adventure. You can generally expect a phone call when he or she arrives at the airport, again 4-5 days after their arrival, and once more before returning home.

To promote the wilderness aspect of our Adventures, cell phones are collected, and are only available to students on logistics days or traveling days.

You can also mail your child letters during their trip. Check the Student Login page for addresses. Expect two or more postcards from both your child and the instructors during the Adventure.

Updates from the Trip

"Treks Checks" are updates from your student's trip that are posted online every 3-6 days. They often include weather reports, recent meal highlights, and reports from the past few days' activities. They do not typically include photos, as we want to maximize our instructors' time with your child, instead of sitting in a remote internet cafe!

You'll receive automatic updates by email each time a new Treks Check is posted, including a link directly to the update.

"I am so impressed with AT's communication with parents. I loved the Treks Checks, which included really fun details such as what the kids were eating and photographs of their activities. I would give AT an A++ on their communication."
Trisha Miller, parent from North Carolina

Questions about the Equipment List

FAQ's about Equipment:

  • Don't worry! Your student will not be carrying ALL of their personal items on their back at once.
  • You are welcome to borrow gear at no extra charge. You can reserve a backpack, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad by emailing office@adventuretreks.com.
  • We strongly recommend a soft-sided duffel bag without wheels. Common airline maximum sizes are 50 pounds and 72 total inches.
  • You'll also bring a bookbag (daypack) for daily use.
  • You will need a pair of boots, and you'll need to break them in early!
