Adventure Treks students choose to attend and participate enthusiastically in all activities.
While some students join Adventure Treks as the "next step" beyond summer camp, many students join us for their first outdoor experience. We’ll teach you everything you need to know for a successful Adventure. The ability to choose your level of challenge during the trip helps ensure your experience is a lot of fun. We have found a positive attitude to be the most important characteristic for a great trip.
Many of our students play sports (or do something active like skateboarding) during the school year, which keeps them in good shape for the summer. While it is not necessary to be a great athlete, the more physically prepared you are, the more fun you will have.
We check references and do not accept students whom we feel will not be a good match for our program. Each student writes an essay each year about their choice to participate in Adventure Treks. This way, we do our best to ensure a positive peer group for your child. Adventure Treks is in no way a program for troubled youth.
Adventure Treks is a member of the National Association of Gifted Students. Adventure Treks offers opportunities for skills that extend beyond the classroom to real-life experiences.
Adventure Treks has the highest return rate of any similar program - 60% or more each year. Even though 60% of our students return for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th summer, we still have many new students on every Adventure. Our communities are so strong, that even new students feel like "part of the family" from day one. Adventure Treks is the least cliquey place you could be.
