Highest Repeat Rate

Adventure Treks consistently has the highest repeat rate of any similar program for both students (60%) and instructors (70%).

“In just a few days’ time, strangers turn to friends, friends to family, and on the last day you WON’T want to leave.”

What to Expect at Adventure Treks

Hear From Our Students:

"My first day, I barely said a word and was too nervous to eat the pizza. Within a few hours, I realized it didn't matter that I had never gone camping before or that I didn't know any of these people. The instructors put my fears at easy. The entire group kept me laughing for 20 days straight. I've never had so much fun in my life!"
Leora Feldstein, Newton, MA

Adventure Treks Camping Tent

Do we sleep in tents every night?

Yes!  Every night is spent sleeping in tents. You will be with two other students (of the same sex) in a 4-person tent. Sometimes we also use custom-built tarps or sleep out under the stars.

How often will I shower?

If you have to shower every day, Adventure Treks is probably not the program for you! Expect three to four showers on your trip. You will get to swim frequently. Our experienced staff will instruct you on how to maintain personal hygiene in a wilderness context.

What should I pack?

We provide all of your equipment; we ask you to provide just your clothing. This could save you up to $500 on gear that other programs require you to buy! For the few items you'll need, you can see a sample equipment list here.

You won't carry all of this gear on your back!  Backpacking with Adventure Treks is a ton of fun.

How is the food?

Our students are universally impressed with the quality of food on our trips. We believe it is very important for our students to eat well! We try very hard to provide you with plenty of good food because we know how hungry teenagers can get. There are always snacks available.

Midway through the trip you will get the opportunity to help plan the menus. While we are able to provide balanced meals for vegetarians, we regretfully cannot accommodate vegan or kosher diets.

"Okay, seriously, food prepared using only a portable camp stove, one pot, a big spoon, and a pocket knife should not be this good. The food at Adventure Treks is always great!"
Elizabeth Soffer, St. Louis, MO

How do we travel during the trip?

Adventure Treks uses new fifteen passenger vans. We recognize driving as the most dangerous activity, therefore we intentionally keep driving time to a minimum. Typically, only 5% of a trip is spent in a van. Adventure Treks’ drivers are carefully selected and participate in a driving safety class designed specifically for fifteen passenger vans.

Will I make friends?

Our community experience is amazing!  You'll make friends quickly and by the end of the trip you won't want to leave.

What will I do each day?

Every trip has different highlights. You might love the rock climbing, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, mountain biking, or sailing. At least once you’ll climb to the top of a mountain with amazing views. You will be challenged, but we won’t push you beyond your abilities.

"Don't be scared about any of your experiences because the people there will support you through it, and through everything else. It's those people that make you want to come back every year for as long as you possibly can."
Sally Shatford, La Canada, CA
