Cate M

Originally from Massachusetts, Cate now calls Burlington, VT, home. At the University of Vermont, Cate leads backcountry trips through the Outing Club; there, she’s also a part of a leadership development program that focuses on safety and risk management and mentorship through backcountry skiing. Last summer, Cate was a counselor at Singing Eagle Lodge Camp in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, where she taught canoeing, rock climbing, and orientation skills. Cate has also worked as a kids’ swim instructor the last three summers.

  • Favorite hobbies: I’m a big fan of exploring in the mountains, collecting rocks on the beach, and creating art of all mediums. My favorite ways to recreate outside are hiking, skiing, mountain biking, trail running, and swimming in the ocean.
  • What are you most excited for this summer? I am so excited to continue to learn about and from the wonderful natural world around me. There is SO much magic to experience and lessons to learn from being in the mountains. I am also looking forward to watching my students build confidence in themselves, their capabilities, and their identities, and to watch them discover and express things they are truly passionate about!
