Jordan A.

Instructor, California Challenge 1 & Pacific Northwest Explorer

Jordan is joining us for his first season as an instructor. He was born and raised in southeast Idaho but headed to Montana State University for school to study the effects of glaciers on nitrogen concentrations in mountain streams. He currently leads backcountry trips and teaches field mapping techniques, and in his free time you can find him biking, skiing, or rock climbing.

  • Education: Montana State University; bachelor’s degree in geology, master’s degree in earth science
  • Certification: Emergency medical technician
  • What excites you the most about working for AT this summer? Spending time getting people excited about the world around them. In my experience, spending time in the backcountry is the best way to make strong friendships because of the amazing experiences you get to share. I can’t wait for the new challenges and friendships!
  • Favorite outdoor memory? That is a tough one! Seeing the solar eclipse of 2017 on a remote mountain lake during a four-day backpack with my favorite person and a moose for company has to be right up there!
