During his time at Ithaca, he took a Lander, Wyoming–based Semester in the Rockies course with the National Outdoor Leadership School that focused on backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater canoeing, and canyoneering. He did another course with NOLS later in college, this time as an immersion course in Oregon, honing his climbing, backpacking, whitewater rafting, and snow travel skills. He’s worked as a first responder volunteer for ambulance services in Israel; rock climbing supervisor in New York; adventure sports director and rock climbing specialist for youth ages 7–15 at Camp Ramah in California; experiential education intern at New Summit Academy in Costa Rica; and ski and snowboard instructor at Steamboat Resort in Colorado.
