Roman grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California but most recently lived in the Bay area, where he worked for Positive Adventures as an outdoor educator. Prior to that, he was an instructor with Experience Learning in West Virginia. He’s also worked at Sanborn Western Camps in Colorado as the arts coordinator, leading backpacking trips as well. He then moved on to Snow Mountain River, an outdoor outfitting shop in Arizona. Roman has also worked at a ski resort in California.

  • Education: Northern Arizona University, bachelor’s degree
  • Certifications: Wilderness first responder
  • Favorite outdoor memory: Taking students Caving in West Virginia through the wet and muddy caves.
  • Favorite outdoor achievement: Two weeks of sailing in Tahiti, and bushwhacking up the highest peaks on different islands.
  • Favorite place you’ve traveled: Tahiti is favorite travel spot… but West Virginia exceeded my expectations in its nature, caves, and wilderness.
  • Favorite hobbies: I am passionate about all things art and the outdoors. For the outdoors, rock climbing, backpacking, and snowboarding are my three favorite hobbies. Growing up near Tahoe I was able to dedicate lots of my time and effort to them. My other interests include ceramics, in which I received my degree, and playing piano, guitar, and bass. I’ve been getting back into knitting and sailing.
