Favorite hobbies
Trail running, riding bikes, swimming, hiking, reading, doing silly little crafts, beating my friends and family at card games, and watching Survivor. My favorite hobby right now is trail running. I have gotten really into it the past couple of years. I love moving through nature, pushing myself, and accomplishing hard things on just my two feet. I wouldn’t consider myself a big TV person, but I am obsessed with Survivor, and I have watched every single season (there are 50)!
Favorite outdoor achievement
I recently ran a 50k (31-mile) trail race in the Sierra Nevada foothills! This is my biggest outdoor achievement right now because it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also because I am relatively new to running in general, and this was my first ultra-marathon distance race. One thing I love is trying new sports and trying to push myself to get the most out of myself, and I love the feeling of being proud/surprised of how much your body is capable of. I also feel like an outdoor achievement I am proud of is not being afraid of trying new skills and hobbies later in life; this is how I’ve learned about so many wonderful new activities like climbing, ski touring, bikepacking and trail running.
Favorite outdoor memory
This isn’t anything specific, but one of my favorite parts about outdoor adventures is how it can help you bond with the people on the adventures with you. I have formed so many of my closest friendships through spontaneous backpacking trips and outdoor experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Favorite place in the world
It’s almost impossible to decide but I really love Truckee, CA, because it feels like a huge playground full of amazing trails and views. I have an endless supply of amazing memories exploring there with all my family and friends.
