Trip leader

Born in Oregon but a Coloradoan at heart, Sammy most recently worked as a program leader for the Outdoor School Oregon, facilitating activities for 6th graders and mentoring young adults 15 and up. While in school at CU, Sammy worked with TGTHR (We Can End Youth Homelessness) as a youth support specialist. Prior to that, he was a resident advisor, program lead at a day camp in CO, and counselor at another camp in Portland. This fall, he’ll be starting graduate school for social work.

Favorite hobbies

Snowboarding, basketball, pretending to know how to surf, doing yoga, convincing people to play hacky sack with me, slack-lining, running, meditation. I’ve also started rock climbing.

Watching a total solar eclipse from the top of a fire lookout in Oregon.

Favorite outdoor memory

Kayaking in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

Favorite place in the world

Tough question. I think it has to be Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. I’ve spent so much of my life snowboarding, hiking, soaking in hot springs, and exploring there, but it never gets old.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?

Cowboy camping, family meals, and dance parties!
