Favorite hobbies
I got really into cycling this past year! It has really helped build my fitness, and I am able to explore a city way more efficiently on bike than anything else… I have many bikepacking trips loading! I also participated in my school’s cross country team this past year.
Biggest outdoor achievement
Kayaking the upper day stretch of the Salmon River! I haven’t been that scared in a really long time :). Whitewater spooks me so much, but having the opportunity to do that was awesome, and I had a really fun day.
Favorite outdoor memory
Admiring Denali with my Adventure Treks Alaska Expedition crew last summer! The night before our Kesugi Ridge backpack, the sunset hit the east face of the mountain so perfectly. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I still remember it so vividly. The people I was with made the experience even more memorable.
Favorite place in the world
I love Leavenworth, WA! The Bavarian experience is very interesting, and the climbing in that area is fantastic, as is their gravel and mountain biking. Lots of cool things to see as a tourist. The people there were also lovely, and it is super close to Lake Wenatchee.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Giving my students the experience of a lifetime and improving on my skills as an AT instructor. Also, the toothbrush dance parties, looooooooong van rides, duffel shuffles, early morning dew, eating food off of the ground, and talking in a New York accent… even though I’ve never been east of Nebraska.
