Favorite hobbies
Outdoor-related, I enjoy long walks in the woods, biking, any kind of paddling, and rock climbing when I get the chance! I also love traveling, learning about other cultures, cooking, with friends, and going to music shows.
Favorite outdoor achievement
A six-day backpacking training trip that I led for new trip leaders in Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. This was a challenging trip for everyone involved, and I was really proud to see their progress throughout the week after many open group conversations were had with very valuable feedback.
Favorite outdoor memory
Seeing a magical sunrise at Fitz Roy in Patagonia after waking up at 2:30 am to summit with strangers that became great friends, and then spending the rest of the day hiking in the area!
Favorite place in the world
Iceland! I had the opportunity to spend a few weeks there about five years ago planting trees on the farm of a family friend, and got to see a bit of the country as well. It truly feels like another planet and the endless summer sun is something that I really love.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
I’m most looking to the community I’ll form with students and co-instructors. Also, all the goofy fun that comes from spending time together outside free of distractions!
