Favorite hobbies
I love floating in the ocean, playing ultimate frisbee, searching for slugs while I’m hiking, and visiting new places. I’m excited by getting to try to new recipes in the kitchen (and in the backcountry) and working at my lab bench. My favorite way to relax is reading or journaling in my hammock.
Favorite outdoor achievement
My favorite outdoor achievement was summiting Sawtooth Pass in the Sierras on my first long backpack trip. The views of alpine lakes and the valley were unreal, and it was a grueling trek up the hill. We made the single best almond butter and jelly sandwiches I’ve ever had.
Favorite outdoor memory
On a surf trip in Punta Cabras, Mexico, my group and I had just gotten out of the water at prime conditions and had to lug our boards back to camp with already tired arms. When we turned around, the brightest sunset flashed across the sky, and it was so calm… it made the chilly walk back to camp worth it.
Favorite place in the world
Santa Barbara Shores Park in California. It’s a quiet place near home where the eucalyptus trees and wildflowers meet the cliffside and beach.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
I can’t wait to help new friendships grow, have sore muscles, and enjoy my cozy sleeping bag at the end of a long day.
