Abby

Instructor

Abby hails from Columbus, OH. As she pursues her bachelor’s degree at Ohio State, Abby works as the vice president of the Mountaineers outing club, where she leads backpacking and hiking trips. She also coaches high school field hockey and middle school indoor field hockey. Previously, she worked for Avid4 Adventure as an outdoor education instructor, taking students on hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding trips in Colorado.

  • Education: The Ohio State University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications
  • Certifications: Wilderness first responder
  • Favorite outdoor memory: My favorite outdoor memory is was exploring the Hall of Mosses Trailhead in Washington with my dad. I have never seen anything like it before!
  • Favorite outdoor achievement: Pushing a group of students to summit Hallett Peak in CO!
  • Favorite place you’ve traveled: A place that exceed my expectations was the Great Smoky Mountains! It has so many trails and beautiful sights!
  • Favorite hobbies: I am passionate about making outdoor spaces as accessible as possible to everyone, and connecting in tech-free environments. There are so many beautiful places, and I love to be present in those spaces. Some of my outdoor related hobbies are hiking, biking, paddle boarding, and trail running. More generally, I love to attend concerts, try new foods, make fun playlists, dance, watch football games, and have game nights.
  • What are you most excited for this summer? I am looking forward to being tech free, reconnecting with past instructors, and meeting new staff and students!
